The ‘Road Crew’ range is multi-section, high-performance and exceptional! Largely based on the most popular of our exclusive Millerods models, they’re ideally suited to fishing here in Australia – or anywhere in the world where your favourite rod is needed!

The Hitcher is a light spin rod. The design is a hybrid blend between two of Millerods hard-body lure rods; the TwitchFreak Lt and the TwitchFreak Medium – so effectively a light-medium power.

This creates a versatile rod with a super-smooth action that’s perfect for lures with treble hooks but also suitable for any lure in the 3-10gm range. It’s also perfect for soft plastics on live-scope applications!

Think bass, trout or perch and similar species anywhere in the world where small lures and an accurate presentation are required. We’ve extensively tested this rod on Aussie species such as flathead and golden perch, as well as smallmouth bass in the USA and Japan.

In the hand, this rod is sensitive, balanced and very lightweight. At 6’10” length, the Hitcher is all about smooth, accurate casting and fish fighting. Keep it in hand all day without fatigue. The action is ideal for twitching lures (and strolling) and the smooth action keeps fine hook-holds together.

Blank construction is all custom, high-grade graphite. Our exclusive custom Road Crew blanks are not based on a simple selection of material that runs throughout the range, or even throughout each model. Every part is made of the most suitable blend for that specific section of the rod! All ferrules are ‘put in’ style, creating the optimal solution to create a more robust blank while maintaining the Millerods benchmarks of balanced sensitivity!

The multi-guide train features 8 guides plus tip-top in corrosion proof titanium frames, and super hard Zirconia ceramic. This further enhances the smooth action and provides exceptional line control.

Of course, our custom exclusive anti-tangle hook keeper will be there at hand to keep your lure at the ready, but otherwise virtually disappears.

The ergonomic handle features lightweight carbon reel seat parts in a skeleton design to enhance sensitivity during lure retrieves. The EVA butt grip and butt cap are x-firm EVA for hard wearing performance.

^Millerods recommends the use of the FG knot for connecting braided fishing lines to monofilament leaders. All Ian’s lure casting guide trains are selected with this connecting knot in mind.
